Pennsport is Philadelphia’s riverfront enclave that has seen quite a lot of building momentum in recent years. The influx of energy is welcomed in a neighborhood already rich in Philly tradition.
The Pennsport neighborhood has a rich concentration of historically blue-collar families and Mummers’ clubhouses — Pennsport’s “Two Street,” also known as 2nd Street, hosts a serious post-parade street party every New Year’s Day. However, this area is also experiencing the beginnings of its own, natural revitalization. This is apparent with a healthy lineup of new bars, coffee shops and restaurants.
The biggest event undoubtedly for this neighborhood is the Annual Mummer’s Day Parade. No idea what or who a Mummer is…well that answer is unique to only Philadelphians. For more information visit Mummer’s Day Parade.
Federal Donuts is also another main stay for this neighborhood featuring toppings for donuts that seem almost unbelievable…try the maple-bacon donut or the lemon-grass donut. You will no doubt be pleasantly surprised by these original topping and flavors. Visit Federal Donuts for all the options possible to have a unique donut.
Pier 68 is also a great outside attraction which Pennsport offers. It is considered a waterfront oasis ideal for fishing, lounging and embracing nature. Visit Pier 68.
