Newbold is a neighborhood in South Philadelphia. Its location spans from Washington Avenue to Passyunk and from Broad Street to 18th Street. What is interesting about the Newbold section of the city is that it only recently separated from Point Breeze. This was all part of a revitalization effort made by business and home owners in the area. Newbold is now considered another “up and coming” neighborhood. Numerous well known restaurants and businesses occupy this space of the city.
Newbold’s name was chosen by John Longacre, owner of the South Philly Taproom, to better distinguish the area from what some people viewed as an ambiguous area of South Philly. The area continues to grow, attracting young professionals as well as new businesses that see the potential of the area. For all there is to know about this area visit About Newbold.
